Seven Card Stud Poker

Seven Card Stud Poker
Seven Card Stud could possibly be the most well known poker game on the face of the planet. The Seven Card Stud is a very popular poker game and a classic one which can be learnt very fast but at the same time also takes a lifetime to master. It is a kind of poker game in which players are dealt seven cards throughout the course of the hand, but only the best five-card poker hand possible for each player is used to determine the winner of the game. May be that is the reason it is called Seven Card Stud Poker.
Compared to the Texas Hold’em and Omaha, Seven Card Stud poker game is only played with a limit betting structure. It is said that until the recent explosion in popularity of Texas Hold’em, Seven Card Stud was the most popular poker game played for many years. It was the game of choice for almost all poker players. It has many options available even today in a wide range of limits.
Rules for playing Seven Card Stud
The rules for playing the game of Seven Card Stud poker are nowhere similar to the Texas Hold’em or the Omaha poker kind, although it is one of the oldest poker games that drew largest poker players in its time. Before a game of Seven Card Stud poker is started, all the players ante a nominal amount which the exact amount depends on the game, and is displayed in the table. Each of the players is dealt two hidden hole cards and one exposed card. The player with the lowest exposed card is called the ‘bring-in’ , and is forced to make another nominal bet or a full small bet, and here again the exact size of the bring-in depends on the game being played. The play continues with action moving clockwise around the table until betting is completed for the round.
There is also a rule for the purposes of determining the bring-in in Seven Card Stud in case there are any ties in card rank. Any such ties are broken by a suit, with the order from the highest to lowest being spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs. The lowest suit brings in, so if the deuce of clubs is visible at the beginning of the hand, then the deuce of clubs would have the bring-in.
How to Play Seven Card Stud poker
In the Seven Card Stud poker game, each player receives an exposed card called ‘Fourth Street’. The first player to act is the one whose exposed stud cards have the highest poker value. This particular player is allowed to either check or bet. If no player shows a pair amongst his or her exposed cards, the bet will be a small bet of something like $2 in a $2/$4 game. If any player shows a pair, the betting can be opened for a big bet like $4 in a $2/$4 game.
The next step is for the player to receive another exposed card, called ‘Fifth Street’. Again the first player to make a move is the individual whose exposed cards have the highest poker value. From this level onwards, starting from Fifth Street, and for the rest of the hand, all bets are expected to be in big bet increments, $4 in a $2/$4 game.
The play would continue to the Sixth Street where again each player receives exposed card, called the ‘Sixth Street’. Again it needs the individual with the highest poker value. Each player then receives the seventh and final card, which is dealt face-down and known only to the player to whom the card is dealt. The first player to make a move here too is the individual whose exposed cards have the highest poker value just like before. If there is more than one remaining stud player when the final betting round is complete, the last bettor or raiser shows his or her cards first, in the order of seat one, two and so on.
The player with the best five-card poker hand wins the pot. In case there is identical poker hands noted, the pot will be equally divided between the players with the best hands. As soon as the pot is awarded, there will be a new online game of seven card stud poker ready to be played.
